What Happens to a Cremation Urn After the Memorial Service? For Australian families, a cremation urn does not have one prescribed destination after a memorial service. It can remain at home, be placed in a cemetery or memorial garden, be used when ashes are scattered, or become part of several smaller memorials shared between family…
Buying a cremation urn independently allows a family to choose something more personal than the limited range available through a funeral provider. It can also raise some practical questions: Will the crematorium container fit? Do the ashes need to be transferred? How much time should be allowed for preparation and delivery?
