Quality hardwood solid timber

Our solid timber urns provide a wide variety of timber options, allowing patrons to select both colour and grain pattern that best reflect their preferences. While we offer a range of timber species, we have found that many patrons tend to select based on colour over species.

Frequently asked questions

Our solid timber urns are crafted with only the highest quality natural timbers, without the use of any manufactured products like plywood, MDF, or veneers. This results in a product that is not only visually stunning but also more durable and stronger than other options.

We are committed to using only environmentally appropriate products when finishing our Urns. This includes finishes that are low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and do not contain harmful chemicals.

That is why we give ourselves up to 10 business days to allow for construction and time for our finish to cure before sending out to you

The answer to that question is as unique as you are. All of our timbers are selected because of their strength and beauty. Just select the one that speaks to you – that will be the best timber for you!

Simply remove the four machine bolts using a regular screwdriver. Observe the white painted mark on the base of the Urn and on the plinth

Wrap the container in the black felt provided and then place the container inside the Urn.

Replace the four bolts taking care to match the painted marks on the base and the plinth. You only need to hand tighten the bolts.

Our finishing products are not only environmentally friendly, but also safe for you, your family, and pets. We take pride in using non-toxic and chemical-free finishes, ensuring that our products are not only beautiful, but also safe to handle and use.

Our Urns are a natural product and “prefer” to be handled by humans whose body oils will help protect the lustre and timber for a long time. Customer maintenance is easy, and involves simply dusting and rubbing with a beeswax furniture polish every few months.

For many people, the loss of a cherished family pet can be as devastating as the loss of any other family member, the grieving process and coming to terms with the loss, just as difficult to bear. Accordingly, there is a growing demand for memorial urns for departed pets, offering as they do a dignified final resting place, a tangible connection to their life and the opportunity to honour and remember them.

At A Cut Above Woodworking, a small family owned enterprise based in Perth, we produce a range of high quality, hand crafted urns that serve as the perfect resting place for your much loved pet. Our selection of custom made timber urns are all created from locally sourced timber, approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) including such species as Cherry, White Oak, Walnut and Vic Ash that constitute our standard range, whilst our premium elegant range includes the rare Sheoak, Blackbutt, Marri and Yellow Tingle – but this range can be subject to seasonal supply.

Along with our commitment to using only locally sourced and sustainable timber we also use only safe and toxin free products when it comes to adding the final polish to our wooden urns. Oils from plants and locally sourced beeswax are applied to the timber to bring a depth of colour and warmth to the urns, the lustrous finish bringing a quality that simply cannot be replicated with a ceramic urn.

Making your decision as to which urn best serves to honour the memory of your pet is purely personal but our solid wood urns will give may many years of impeccable service; inferior quality urns made from composite materials will be far more likely to split and warp whilst ceramic urns are vulnerable to accidental damage. When you opt for a wooden dog ashes urn or a wooden cat ashes urn from A Cut Above, you will have a long lasting testament to your pet that will look as good as new for decades, with a minimum of maintenance required (occasional dusting and a gentle polish with beeswax is all that is required).

We fully appreciate the sensitivities that surround making your choice of urn, and we are always happy to talk with you to ensure that we deliver exactly what you want, and should you wish to see first hand the exceptional standard of our workmanship, our attention to detail and the pure quality of the timber that we use, many government crematoriums – from Perth to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and regional NSW to regional WA, will have examples of our products in stock, ready for your perusal.

New orders can take up to 10 business days to complete – this ensures that quality is never compromised and that the all important finish has had sufficient time to cure before despatch. Our aim is to deliver 100% satisfaction, and in the unlikely event of you not being absolutely delighted with your pet memorial urn we promise to make every effort to remedy the situation without undue stress or worry.
